Tellspec wins the Humanitarian Water Air and Food Award (WAF award)
Our team has created the world’s first handled device able to scan food at a molecular level: the Tellspec Food Sensor. Our technology includes a three-part system: a pocket-sized spectrometer, a cloud-based patented analysis engine, and a mobile app that work together to scan foods, identify calories, macronutrients, contaminants, and also provide relevant information such as food fraud, food adulteration or food quality.
Contamination of the food at any stage, from production to consumption, produces bacteria, viruses, parasites, chemical agents and toxins, which eventually cause the food-borne diseases. Exposure to these contaminants is linked to disease such as cancer, obesity, and even neurological disorders. Tellspec is committed to solve the world’s food safety problem.
Tellspec’s mission is to help create a Clean Food Revolution by providing food security to all. We hope that we will spark a vital change in the way people eat and the way food is currently grown and manufactured. Clean food is an undeniable human right.

Tellspec helps you detect calories, carbohydrates, protein, fats, fiber, and glycemic load, as well as identify the presence of known allergens and of certain contaminants.
Tellspec helps you track the intake of calories, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, sugars and glycemic load per meal, per day, per week, per month and per quarter
Tellspec is an affordable tool for food Quality Control, food authenticity and food analysis
can be used without the Tellspec Food Sensor. The app on its own helps you to track consumption of food ingredients, such as calories or carbs, and calculate important food related information such as the glycemic load of a meal by asking you to enter this information rather than scanning it.
The Tellspec mobile application also fully incorporates Tellspecopedia, a database that can help you better understand specific food ingredients and how they impact health. Each record in the database synthesizes information from several scientific sources by listing an ingredient’s definition, health considerations, things to keep in mind, where the ingredient may be found, and alternative names and spellings, along with references and links to published studies for further reading.
“First, the scanner is smaller than I expected. It looks fairly large in photos on the TellSpec website, but I am pleasantly surprised at how slim it is.”
Now, that French Onion soup… how many calories can broth with onions, a slice of provolone, and a few bread croutons cost in a diet? 360 calories per the official nutrition guide. Actual damage = 370 calories.
Do yourself a favor. Look up the information for foods for yourself, in Tellspecopedia, by Tellspec.”

“… this may be the only possible peaceful way to raise the responsibility of the authorities and to improve the regulations concerning the type and quantity of the permitted food additives.”
“I took delivery of a beta scanner from Tellspec in early 2015 and feel I must emphasise how pleased I have been with the device (…) Tellspec represents a ground breaking project which promises to be a powerful weapon in the fight against the ever increasing degredation of our diet, through over processing and modern food procurement practises, by putting informed choice back in the hands of the consumer.”
